WASHINGTON, DC – Congressman Sam Graves (MO-06) has initiated the application process for students in North Missouri who aspire to attend prestigious U.S. service academies.

Expressing his commitment, Graves stated, “It’s always an honor to nominate the best and brightest from North Missouri to attend our nation’s service academies.” He further encouraged all interested individuals, emphasizing, "Every student who has interest in attending a service academy should definitely consider applying.”

Prospective candidates seeking a nomination for the U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, U.S. Military Academy, or U.S. Naval Academy must meet specific criteria, including being a U.S. Citizen, a resident of Missouri, meeting academic and character requirements, and possessing a valid Social Security Number.

Applicants can begin the process by contacting Congressman Graves’ Kansas City District Office after initiating an application with their desired service academy. The deadline for submissions is October 4, 2024, at 5:00 pm.

The competitive nature of the nomination process is highlighted by the high admission standards of the service academies. An Academy Nomination Review Board, consisting of academy alumni, veterans, and citizens from Missouri’s 6th Congressional District, will evaluate and interview applicants before making final recommendations to Congressman Graves.

The opportunity to pursue education and service at these esteemed institutions presents a challenging yet rewarding path for the deserving candidates from North Missouri.
