We have received word that last night calls were made from the number 660-397-4123, popping up Knox County Health Department on caller ID. The person on the other end of the line began asking for personal information, like bank accounts, social security numbers, etc.
This was not the Knox County Health Department. This was someone using the number through a scam internet system. NEVER give those personal details to anyone over the phone, irregardless of where you think they are calling from. If we need your social security number for vaccination/insurance we will obtain that information when we are in your presence. We will never need your private bank account numbers!
We had heard this was being done earlier in the summer and the number used was a local healthcare provider. Again, never should anyone need that information over the phone.
We wish there was a way to identify and prosecute these individuals but unfortunately there is not.
