A significant solar energy project in northeast Missouri is nearing its completion. The Morris Solar Project, set to become the largest solar farm in Missouri, is located east of State Highway 3 near Troy Mills in Adair County and extends south toward the Kirksville Regional Airport.

The project, valued at nearly $400 million, will cover 1,100 acres with solar panels. Initially expected to be completed by late March 2025, the timeline has been adjusted due to challenging winter conditions.

"We originally anticipated a late March 2025 substantial completion [date], and due to a couple of difficult winters out here, we going to be testing sometime in mid-Q2," said AES Senior Project Manager Jeff Cole. "Meaning probably May, sometime in May would be realistic."
