On Tuesday, Adair County commissioners convened to review the budgets for several county departments. Both the clerk's office and the treasurer's office sought hearings to discuss potential budget cuts and articulate their funding needs.

The discussions centered on areas such as supplies, dues and conventions, mileage, and training. Questions were raised by all parties involved during these meetings.

"So, I had requested that to explain, find out where the cuts were going to be made," said Treasurer Lori Smith. "And I could explain why and how I was using those monies. They were wanting to cut supplies, I think they just had a question as to why they were higher and the other category was dues, training, conventions, things like that."

Presiding Commissioner Mark Shahan later confirmed that both offices' proposed budgets were approved without any cuts. "After some conversations we had with all the offices, we granted their requests," Shahan said. "And we feel like it’s a good budgetary number and we’ll watch how it goes through the year and have more questions next year."
