Cynthia Green, BSN, RNC-OB, the director for women's services at Northeast Regional Medical Center in Kirksville, Missouri, has renewed her national certification in various aspects of obstetric care. This certification from the National Certification Corporation (NCC) emphasizes fetal assessment, pregnancy complications, labor and birth, recovery, postpartum and newborn care. The NCC is a not-for-profit organization that provides certifications for healthcare professionals specializing in women's health and neonatal care.
Green expressed her dedication to providing up-to-date and evidence-based care in rural areas. "I love learning; being in a rural area makes it all the more important to provide clinically current and evidence-based care to our patients," she said. She emphasized the importance of maintaining this certification due to its focus on underserved patients needing comprehensive maternal and newborn care.
Green's career at Northeast Regional Medical Center began in 1979 as a nurse’s aide. After graduating from Truman State University (formerly Northeast Missouri State University) in 1984, she specialized in labor and delivery. In 2000, she was appointed Director of Women's Services.
Patrick Avila, CEO of NRMC, highlighted the institution's commitment to staff development through additional certifications and education opportunities. "At NRMC, we encourage our team members to go beyond the basic training requirements for healthcare," he stated. "Supporting ongoing education, advanced training, and continuous learning opportunities is essential to the high-quality care we deliver throughout Northeast Missouri."
