Northeast Regional Medical Center (NRMC) has announced a new collaboration with the Tiger Institute Health Alliance (TIHA) Health Information Exchange. This partnership aims to enable healthcare providers who participate in the network to securely exchange patient information electronically, benefiting patients in Kirksville and other communities that are part of TIHA HIE.

Patrick Avila, chief executive officer of NRMC, said, “We strive to provide safe, quality care for each and every patient. We are excited to collaborate with Tiger Institute to ensure more streamlined access to health information, should a patient need care outside of our community. The Health Information Exchange equips providers and caregivers with critical patient data which helps them to provide better care.”

TIHA is part of the Tiger Institute for Health Innovation, which brings together organizations focused on improving healthcare efficiency and quality across several states. The partnership is expected to help unify patient information at the point of care and enhance how data is shared among providers, payors, state agencies, and others.

Mike Seda, executive director of Tiger Institute, stated, “This collaboration will further enhance care for patients in the region, ensuring seamless information sharing for patients who require more specialized care at MU Health Care or other health care systems participating in our network.”

The Tiger Institute for Health Innovation was established as a partnership between the University of Missouri and Cerner Corporation in 2009. Its goal is to advance healthcare through innovation and technology by connecting healthcare organizations throughout Missouri and beyond.
