Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Sam Graves has been recommended by the Republican Steering Committee to continue in his role for the 119th Congress. Graves expressed his gratitude, stating, "I am honored and humbled to be selected by my Steering Committee colleagues to serve as Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman for the 119th Congress."
Graves highlighted the committee's accomplishments over the past two years, including passing significant infrastructure bills such as the FAA Reauthorization Act and the Water Resources Development Act. He emphasized that there is an opportunity to achieve more in the upcoming Congress.
Looking ahead to 2025, Graves stated, "The Committee will hit the ground running in 2025. We will work with President Trump to advance his infrastructure priorities, developing the next long-term highway bill, and focusing on fixing the real infrastructure that moves people and goods safely and efficiently throughout our country."
During his tenure, Missouri has seen increased investment in infrastructure projects. Graves mentioned key developments such as the Buck O’Neil Bridge, Lance Corporal Leon Deraps I-70 Missouri River Bridge at Rocheport, and the FARM Bridge program across North Missouri. He also noted efforts to improve rural routes and expand I-70.
Graves looks forward to collaborating with Gov-elect Mike Kehoe, Missouri legislators, MoDOT, and congressional colleagues to maintain a focus on infrastructure improvements. However, it is important to note that approval from the House Republican Conference is still required for these recommendations.
