Northeast Regional Medical Center (NRMC) marked National Doctors' Day for the second year by donating to local non-profit organizations. National Doctors' Day, first observed in 1933, became a national holiday recognized by Congress in 1990, intended as a time to acknowledge physicians for their contributions.

This year, NRMC's physicians decided to donate $3,500 to the United Way of Northeast Missouri. The United Way provides support to ten non-profit organizations in the region and recently celebrated 70 years of enhancing the quality of life for residents in Adair and neighboring counties.

Patrick Avila, the CEO of NRMC, expressed gratitude, saying, “Thanks to our medical staff for taking care of Kirksville and surrounding areas, both in and outside of the hospital. And, thanks to the United Way of Northeast Missouri for all you do to support those in need in our community.”
