U.S. Congressman Sam Graves, who represents Missouri’s 6th district, addressed recent events and public safety concerns in a series of posts on September 10, 2025.

In a post from that afternoon, Graves commented on violence in public transit systems: "The murder of Iryna Zarutska in Charlotte is horrific. No one should fear for their life on a public transit system. This is what happens when the left allows criminals to run loose in our cities.  I commend @SecDuffy for targeting crime on our transit systems and I’ll work with" (September 10, 2025).

Later that day, he praised the U.S. Coast Guard's efforts against drug trafficking: "Great job by the Coast Guard keeping these drugs off our shores. This is why I worked with President Trump to make a major investment in the USCG, giving them the tools they need to keep our maritime borders secure." (September 10, 2025).

In another message posted that evening, Graves expressed concern following an incident involving Charlie Kirk: "Join me in praying for Charlie Kirk, who was shot at an event at a university today. Keep his family and all affected in your prayers as well." (September 10, 2025).

Graves has represented Missouri’s 6th district since replacing Pat Danner in Congress in 2001 and previously served both in the Missouri House of Representatives and Senate. Born in Tarkio, Missouri in 1963, he continues to reside there after graduating from the University of Missouri with a Bachelor of Science degree.
