Rep. Sam Graves, a U.S. Congressman representing Missouri’s 6th district since 2001, recently posted a series of statements on social media addressing ongoing international and domestic issues, including the conflict in the Middle East and the treatment of federal workers during government funding disputes.

On October 7, 2025, Graves referenced the two-year anniversary of the Hamas attack on Israel, writing, "On October 7, 2023, Hamas carried out a heinous terrorist attack on Israel, murdering 1200 people and taking many others hostage, including American citizens. As war rages two years later, it’s time for Hamas to release the remaining hostages in Gaza and agree to end this war so".

Two days later, on October 9, 2025, Graves criticized Senate leadership for the impact of government funding disputes on federal employees. He stated, "The men and women keeping our borders secure and skies safe aren't getting paid - but Senator Schumer is saying 'every day gets better.' Our Coast Guard members and air traffic controllers deserve stability for their families, not to be treated as political bargaining chips."

Later that same day, Graves commented on diplomatic efforts in the Middle East: "This is great news. President Trump has worked tirelessly to bring peace to the Middle East and his efforts are paying off. Bless the hostages and their families."

Graves’ remarks come as tensions continue in Gaza following the October 2023 attack by Hamas that resulted in significant casualties and ongoing hostage situations. The U.S. government has repeatedly called for the release of hostages held by Hamas.

The Congressman’s comments on federal workers highlight ongoing concerns about government shutdowns or funding lapses affecting essential personnel such as Coast Guard members and air traffic controllers—groups who have faced delayed pay during previous budget impasses.

Graves has represented Missouri's 6th District since 2001 after serving in both chambers of the Missouri legislature. Born in Tarkio, Missouri in 1963, he graduated from the University of Missouri in 1986 with a Bachelor of Science degree.
