Northeast Regional Medical Center (NRMC) has concluded its “Enjoy the Ride: Navigating a Longer, Healthier Life” email campaign, focusing on the importance of preventive care and timely medical procedures. The campaign urged individuals to schedule health screenings and elective procedures before the year ends, noting potential benefits for those who have already met their health insurance deductibles.
Dr. Kade Kinney, a family medicine physician and member of the Northeast Regional Medical Group, emphasized the importance of early detection and timely care. “If a health screening is recommended it is typically because early detection of a disease or condition can prevent more serious health issues,” Kinney said. “With certain elective procedures like joint replacement or hernia repair, delay can mean more pain or a more complicated procedure and recovery. Physically and mentally, we all feel better when we make our health a priority.”
NRMC outlined several key screenings to consider before the year concludes. An annual wellness visit with a primary care physician can help address health concerns and monitor conditions such as blood pressure and cholesterol. The American College of Radiology recommends that women at average risk begin annual mammograms at age 40, while those at higher risk may need to start earlier. For colon cancer, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention advises adults at average risk to begin regular colonoscopy screenings at age 45, repeating every ten years if no increased risk is present.
NRMC’s patient access team is available to assist with questions about insurance coverage and out-of-pocket costs for procedures and screenings. Individuals can contact the team by phone at 660-785-1008 or by email at PatAccEducation@chs.net during business hours.
