U.S. Representative Sam Graves has announced the nominations for students from Missouri's Sixth Congressional District to attend the United States Military Service Academies. Each year, members of Congress are responsible for selecting qualified candidates from their districts to join these esteemed institutions.
"It is always an honor to be able to nominate highly qualified students to attend our nation’s military academies," said Rep. Graves, who personally informed each student of their nomination by phone. "These young men and women are exceptionally qualified, excelling in their academics and demonstrating exceptional leadership in their schools and communities. I know all of them will make North Missouri proud."
The nominated students include:
- Annabel Beeman: U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Naval Academy (Platte County High School)
- Jacob Duckworth: U.S. Air Force Academy (Park Hill South High School)
- Nikos Guerrero: U.S. Air Force Academy (Park Hill High School)
- Remington May: U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Highland High School)
- Ethan Smith: U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy (Platte County High School)
- Kloiee Wagner: U.S. Military Academy (Moberly High School)
- Gabriel Watkins: U.S. Air Force Academy (Lathrop High School)
- Isaac Woodward: U.S. Military Academy, U.S. Naval Academy (Fort Osage High School)
- Tade Wynn: U.S. Military Academy (Culver Military Academy)
The nomination process is competitive due to the selective admission standards of the military academies. To aid in this process, Rep. Graves established an Academy Nominations Review Board composed of service academy graduates, veterans, and citizens from the Sixth District who interviewed and evaluated all applicants before making recommendations.
Students interested in future appointments to a service academy are encouraged to learn more early in their high school years by contacting Graves' district office in Kansas City or visiting graves.house.gov.
